Awesome things to do in Kuala Lumpur

  • Kuala Lumpur is dotted by parks that open at 6AM. So start your day with a nice walk or a jog surrounded by beautiful greenery. As for breakfast, go with something traditional that you can find at every corner: Nasi Lemak, a dish of rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaves, served with various toppings such as peanuts, fried anchovies, and egg. Your day will be wonderful, guaranteed!

  • Kuala Lumpur is a food lover's paradise, with a wide variety of cuisines available. You can find street food hawker centers, food courts in malls, street side vendors, and high end restaurants. Some popular local options for lunch include Nasi Kandar, a type of rice dish with a variety of curry toppings, or Char Kway Teow, a type of fried noodle dish.

  • Check out the night markets like Petaling Street or Jalan Alor. You can enjoy some street food or shop for local goods like handicrafts, clothes, or accessories at a fraction of the cost of shopping in a mall. Kuala Lumpur has a variety of bars and clubs, ranging from casual pubs to luxury rooftop bars. Some popular areas for nightlife include Bukit Bintang, Changkat Bukit Bintang, and Jalan Ampang. Keep in mind that Malaysia is a Muslim country, so you might want to dress modestly, alcohol might be limited, and nightlife might close earlier.

  • Explore the Batu Caves, a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples, located around 13 km north of Kuala Lumpur. It's known for the annual Thaipusam festival, where thousands of devotees gather to fulfill their vows to Lord Murugan. Head down to the beaches of Seremban for a nice day of fun in the sun. Or cool down in Fraser's Hill, a highland retreat located about an hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, known for its lush tropical forest and outdoor activities.
